A  Scots Language Hub – the only one of its kind

In view of the impending departure of Mither Tongue from Mid Street, community group, InKeith and Strathisla, have been liaising with regional and national organizations to ascertain if, building on the town’s Scots Toun status, a new, broadly-similar concept can be established to form a unique visitor attraction in the form of a Scots Language Hub, dedicated mainly to the celebration of Scots in general and Doric in particular.   Although language would be its main focus, Doric and Scots language cards and gifts, including adults’ and children’s books, would form an important part of the mix.

The vision is to create a self-guided, immersive space, allowing the public to freely explore a detailed history of  Scots and its  place in today’s Scotland through an appealing mix of window and wall displays and interactive  audio / visual equipment, entertaining and educational, for all ages, celebrating Scots as a language not only with an impressive history and literature,  but a language with a bright future, creating an outstanding and memorable experience for all and including the facilities below.

This level of ambition will obviously cost a great deal and be dependent on public support, but if you like the idea in principle, please complete our one-question survey here:  https://s.surveyplanet.com/5zft6ifm
