The sound of brass returns to Kirk setting

InKeith

After a seven year absence, the curtain is set to rise again on a popular concert which will work its magic and turn musical notes into pound notes.

Music from Stage and Screen is the theme of Keith and District Silver Band’s Christian Aid concert in the town’s St Rufus Church.

This used to be one of the band’s regular fixtures but, for various reasons, including the pandemic, it was May 2016 that the musicians’ last performed at the venue for the charity.

But band members were keen to return, on the back of a couple of other performances recently at the church setting.

Conductor Matt Bailey explained: “Having performed with the band in the Kirk at Christmas and then for the Pentecost Service, I was blown away with the acoustic.

“It’s ready made for a full Silver Band concert, and I can’t wait for the audience to hear our programme.

“Supporting such a cause as Christian Aid is an honour, and the band and I are truly looking forward to the concert.

“The audience will be transported to Hollywood, Broadway, the West End, the Caribbean and perhaps even a stop off at Hogwarts, too!”

Ann Hutton, Christian Aid Convenor for Kirk of Keith: St Rufus, Botriphnie and Grange, encourages everyone to join in the fundraiser.

She said: “This is going to be a very entertaining evening.

“The band sounded incredible the last time they performed in St Rufus. They have such a great repertoire and we’re delighted that they have offered their services again for Christian Aid.

“Please come and join us for first class music, with drinks and home bakes served during their interval.”

The concert takes place on Sunday, 20th August at 7pm. Admittance is £8 for adults and £4 for children.

St Rufus Church is located in the town’s Church Road and has off-road parking in the grounds.
