Rrrrallye Revs Up For A Great Day

Rrrrallye, the group “Promoting Road Awareness for Youths” selected 12 Keith teenagers to attend the youth drive at Alford last Sunday.  Linda Harper, from Rrrrallye said “it was another successful day, everyone turned up except the sun”!

“Roadwise Driver Training instructors were Jim, John and Andy who again all did an amazing job with the youngsters giving them lots of advice and encouragement throughout the day, a credit to Roadwise.  Not only have they a wealth of knowledge, but the instructors had the patience and skills to pass their knowledge onto the youngsters”.

The 15 to 17 year old’s that won the training were as follows: Connor Runcie, Jack Allan, Aaron Skinner, Niamh Taylor, Craig Gordon, Lee Scott, Fergus Webster, Jay Morrison, Connor Porter, Scott Barron, Brandon Laird and Sam Donald.

Scott Barron said “I really liked the training as it gave me a sense of driving safely before I can actually learn to drive”.

Dave and Jim from Roadwise Driver Training will be coming along to the Rrrrallye this year on Sunday 11th of June to put some local drivers through their paces with the Rrrrallye Driver of the Year.  The two age groups are “17-25 years” and “26 and over”.  Participants will go for a very worthwhile short drive and fill out a questionnaire on the Highway Code.  To date no-one has passed the Highway Code.  This course needs to be booked to ensure a chance to get some driving advice from the largest Independent Driver Training provider in the North East of Scotland.  The course is free but donations are welcome.

Keith Grammar School pupils will be doing the popular wellie throwing event again this year.  There will be stalls in the scout marquee as well as the hall.  A separate marquee will be used for entertainment with some musicians still to be confirmed.  Rizza’s ice-cream, teas and homebakes will be for sale in the hall.  Linda said “there are a few other things in the pipeline but just waiting on confirmation from them.  We would still really like to ask for a few more volunteers to help out for an hour on the day to help with the teas or parking if possible”.
