Events for babies and children at Keith Library

Keith library currently offer a variety of sessions aimed at getting babies and children into reading and using the library.

On Friday mornings they run a Bookbug session at 10am as well as once a month on a Saturday, also at 10am (21st October and 18th November 2017). These sessions are for babies and toddlers and consist of the group, led by a member of staff, singing nursery rhymes and songs. This is followed by time to read and play. It is great for babies, children and parents/carers to socialise and gets babies and toddlers into nursery rhymes, books and attending the library.

For pre-school children up to 5 they offer Storytime. This takes place on a Monday afternoon between 1.45pm and 2.30pm. During this time a member of staff reads two or three books to the children, followed by some colouring in and play time. This session again gives parents/carers and children the opportunity to socialise as well as getting children into a routine of attending the library and choosing books to read at home.

For children aged 5-8, they are invited along on a Tuesday afternoon during term time at 3pm to Library Club. This is a similar style group to Storytime but consists of slightly more advanced stories followed by a craft.

The final session they run is the Junior Book Group. This is for the P6 and P7 age group and is run once every four weeks on Fridays at 3.30pm. As this is a book group everyone is provided with the same book which they read and then discuss at the next meeting.

All of these sessions offer parents/carers and children the opportunity to socialise, are provided free of charge and can be attended as much or as little as you wish.
